Dance-A-Thon
The clients are ready to Rock n' Roll!  The Dance-A-Thon was specifically designed for our clients, this event will be held on Saturday, September 18th, 2004 at The State Club Lounge on Lincoln Road.  Our clients will enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, entertainment and above all dancing.  If you are interested in supporting a client please contact the Development Department or call 305.545.7572 ext. 222. 

16th Annual Day Golf Tournament & Spa Day
This year, the Golf Committee is planning an upscale tournament for Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.  Donald Ross designed the 18 hole, par 71 championship course.  The spa is newly renovated and is a place to be pampered and indulged with a wide variety of services.

Inspiring Hope Luncheon
The 39th Annual "Inspiring Hope Luncheon" will take place on Thursday, April 26th, 2005 at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort.  Prices begin at $100 for an individual ticket, $900 for Individual Purchase of a Table for 10 and $1,200 for a Corporate Table of 10.

Hope Center's 50th Anniversary
Hope Center's 50th Anniversary honoring Jay W. Jensen will be held January 22nd, 2004 at the Eden Roc on Miami Beach. 

A lifelong teacher, Jensen in 2004 celebrates his 50th year of teaching in South Florida.  He worked with Miami-Dade County public school system from 1954-1991, six periods a day, and ran the Miami Beach Children's Theatre and the Miami Beach Community Theatre.  He also taught at several junior high schools and for a short time was in Hollywood to work with Columbia producer Joe Pasternak.  Today he teaches at the Hebrew Home for the Aged, the Miami Beach Senior Citizens Center and the Institute for Retired Professionals at the University of Miami.  He also supervises associate teachers at Tucker Elementary for the UM School of Education.  Jensen taught at Temple Beth Sholom for 25 years, serving as drama director.  The Miami Beach resident has a second home and teaches and serves as drama consultant in Mexico City with the Peterson Schools, which has a sports and arts complex named in his honor. Once a friend of the late Tennessee Williams, Jensen also speaks regularly on "the Other Side of Tennessee Williams."

Jensen is also a major supporter of the UM School of Education the Ring Theatre, the Lowe Art Museum, and others.  He earned his associate arts degree at St. Petersburg Junior College in 1952, his bachelor's degree in education/speech and drama at UM in 1952, and his mater's degree in curriculum supervision and administration at UM in 1960.
